Below are pictures of our students during the infamous "easel tray" design challenge. The students had to create a "sheltering" protective accessory to save our wall from the tray of our easel. We learned about the importance of durability and aesthetics. Many of them were quite durable, but not all that aesthetically pleasing! We will finish sharing and improving on Monday.
This past week was Fire Safety week. The West Licking Fire Department visited us Monday and we got a chance to go through the Fire House. That was great, but we had a special guest on Thursday, Andy Robinson (Abby Robinson's father) who is a firefighter with the West Licking Fire Department as well. He gave us some more in-depth information in our classroom, showed us how all of his gear works to protect him, and even let everyone hold his helmet. We also spoke a lot about the engineering of his gear and how engineers designed this gear to to save lives!
Be sure to ask your student.... How many exits should you have to get out of the house safe? Also, be sure that your family has a designated meeting place!

Below are pictures of Abby Dean (our Star Scientist from last week) as she reads the book If You Give a Cat a Cupcake. Abby did a wonderful job reading. It was obvious this was one of Abby's favorite books! She even brought the actually cat from the book with her. Great job this week Abby!
Last week Brooke was our Star Scientist. Brooke choose to do an interview for the technology portion of her time as Star Scientist. Below is her interview. Great job Brooke!
